The deal is done! Alexander Isak will sensationally join Liverpool today in a deal worth £125 million. With the transfer deadline fast approaching at 7pm today, many doubted the deal would get over the line in time.
It is understood Isak will have a medical this morning before signing a 5 year deal. Currently there are no details concerning his weekly salary at Liverpool. It appears the visit by Newcastle club owners last week was the start of a deal being brokered with Liverpool.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe may have wanted his star striker to stay, but a decision has clearly been taken at a higher level.
Point of View
Perhaps the question facing Alexander Isak was this
Would you play for less than you’re worth at a smaller club? Or play for double the money at a bigger club? Would it affect how you played? Would you play at the level of a £60m player instead of playing at the level of a £150m player. If your club won’t pay you the salary of a £150m player yet want £150 million for you, is that fair? Why does his contract have no incentive clauses to cover this? Or were there conversations or promises made that we don’t know about?
