A Gem you might have missed
The classic Girls From Ipanema tells the tale of Malu played by Maria Casadevall. Abandoned by her husband in Rio de Janeiro, Malu is forced to start again.
When her husband left he took her money, and with it her dreams of opening a restaurant. Malu journies from heartbreak to both anger and despair. Then by a strange twist of fate Malu finds new friends and a new-found love for music. After forming a band with her new friends, Malu finds herself at the centre of the booming bossa nova music scene of the time.
The quality of show’s music takes the series to another level, as Malu performs with co-stars Mel Lisboa (Thereza), Pathy Dejesus (Adelia) and Fernanda Vasconcellos (Ligia). Rather fittingly, the show’s title was changed to “Girls From Ipanema”. It was originally called Most Beautiful Thing. https://www.netflix.com/st/title/80208298
